What is web development?
The process of creating Website development and applications for the internet, or for a private network called an intranet, is called web development. Web developers create the code that defines a website’s style, layout, and interactivity, bringing the site’s design and functionality to life. Web developers have created every tool we use on the internet, from the simplest static web pages to social media platforms and apps; from e-commerce websites to content management systems (like WordPress).
Web development can be divided into three categories, or layers: database technology, frontend, and backend. Client-side scripting, sometimes referred to as frontend development, includes every aspect of a website that the user interacts with directly. Items such as design, typeface, hues, menus, and contact forms are included powered by the frontend.
The world of server-side scripting, or backend development, is all about the background work. The frontend notifies the backend when you perform an action on a website, such as completing a form and clicking “submit.” In response, the frontend receives the pertinent data from the backend, such as the code required to display a message like “Thank you for filling out this form.”
Technology related to databases makes up the third layer. All of the material and files required for a website to operate are contained in the database, which arranges and stores the data to make it simple to access, manage, modify, and save.
Together, frontend, backend, and database technologies enable the creation and operation of a fully complete website or program. Therefore, these three layers form the foundation of web development.
